What to Expect

Self-suspension is a great way to experience rope whether or not you have a tying partner. Becoming more common, self-suspension has been used for performances, dynamics ties, somatic self-care, and more.

Prerequisites:

This workshop is built for first-time suspenders; however, it is not built for persons completely new to rope. Attendees will be expected to know how to build effective single-column ties, be comfortable with basic floor ties, and understand the risk of engaging in any activity involving rope and/or suspension.

This workshop will cover:

We act as both the bottom and the rigger, which can make handling uplines is a workout/ We will practice how to manage uplines, and using support lines, to make the process a little easier on ourselves.

❋ Safety and Upline Handling

Understanding where our bodies are at at the time of tying is important to not push ourselves too far and cause injury. We will practice dynamic mobility, stretches, and core stability.

❋ Body Awareness

We will practice self-tying chest and hip harnesses, and little tricks to not exhaust our arms when tying behind the back.

❋ Harnesses for Suspension

Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

❋ A Supportive and Collaborative Space
